It was great to hear that the small team at the talented indie studio Evil Empire will be handling the new Castlevania game, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. The developer wasn’t entirely sure that Konami was even going to get on board with its original idea for Dead Cells DLC.
“I remember saying to myself: ‘It’s too big. They will never say yes,’ according to Motion Twin and Evil Empire COO, Benjamin Laulan. The full-scale Castlevania expansion only happened when the company enquired if they could make a Castlevania-themed skin for Dead Cells. “They said, ‘Let’s do it, and would you also be interested in doing the next Castlevania game?’” as Laulan jokingly puts it. “I’m stoked,” he adds. “Sometimes you’ve just got to ask the question, and you can be surprised by the answer.”
